England Qualification
World Golfers Championship (WGC) begins as a National Championship divided
into five handicap categories.
The winner from each category becomes part of the FIVE-person England team, as
well as defends their category individually in the World Final.
If a winner can't participate, the runner-up will be offered to take his/her
place to ensure a complete England team.
The maximum handicap allowance for Club Qualifiers is 25.
If a competitors handicap changes from either club qualifier to regional, regional to England final, England final to world final, the following rule applies:
- Players progressing to the regional qualifiers or England finals with higher handicaps than the categories they qualified into will play with the highest handicap for their category.
- Players progressing to the regional qualifiers or England finals with lower handicaps than the categories into which they qualified will play with their current handicaps, even though they are lower than the category.
Rules
- All play in the Tournament will be played under The Rules of Golf
as specified by The R&A together with any local rules made by the host
golf club or The Tournament Director.
- The Tournament is Approved by The R&A for the payment of expenses
Rule 4-2g RA/13/2010
- The World Golfers Championship England is open to male, female and junior
golfers who are current members of a golf club, have a handicap issued by
a CONGU affiliated golf club.
- Golfers under the age of 18 on 30th October 2010 may enter but must be accompanied by a full paying adult at the World Finals in Thailand. Cost of a full paying adult can be found out through the contact tab.
- The use of electronic distance measuring devices may be used in club qualifiers (subject to local rules), but not at Regional Finals, England Final or World Finals.
- All participants agree that by registering for the World Golfers Championship
England, that World Golfers England shall not be liable for any claims for
injuries, damages to person or property or financial loss in connection with
any of the Club Qualifier, Regional Qualifiers or England Final or World Final
events.
- The organisers reserve the right to cancel the Tournament prior to commencement
of the Regional Qualifiers if 125 club qualifiers do not take place.
- Club qualifiers, Regional Qualifiers and England Final matches will be played
as an 18 hole nett format. Ties will be determined according to R&A rules.
- Current and valid handicap certificates must be shown to the event organiser
at the Regional and England Finals. If a competitor does not provide a current
and valid handicap certificate on the day he/she must provide proof of handicap
to World Golfers England within 48 hours of completion or lose their place
in the next round.
- Play will be from the Clubs competition tees if allowed. Otherwise,
the Clubs tees of the day will be used. Ladies will play from the designated
Ladies tees.
- If a competitor is unable to attend, from qualification from the previous round, to the next round of the tournament the place will be given to the next placed person. This applies to each of the 5 handicap categories.
- Competitors are only permitted to enter one club qualifier in England. Entry into more than one club qualifer will result in non-qualification into any round that you may progress through.
About the World Championship Final
- The World Final will be held in Thailand between 30th October 2010 and
5th November 2010.
- The World Final will consist of four days tournament rounds.
- If the World Finals are cancelled by the World Golfers Championship World
Golfers England hold no responsibility.
- The successful 5 person team going to the World Finals will receive return
categories from England, 1 weeks accommodation in luxury hotel, four tournament
rounds, 2 practice rounds, team kit, 2 x gala dinners, breakfasts, lunches and
dinners.
- All competitors at the World Final will be responsible for all other additional
expenses.
- Friends and family of the competitors in the World Final will be welcome
to attend the World Final at their own expense.
World Championship Final Format and Rules
The tournament is played over 72 holes, stroke play, with handicap adjustments
after each round, giving all a fair and equal opportunity to become a World
Champion, both in the Team Championship and Individually within each category.
The Championship Team Competition combines the best four scores (of five) per
day from the national team
The Championship
5-person team and 5 hcp categories.
All WGC players compete in the handicap categories they qualified into and most
will play with their exact handicaps, with the following exceptions:
- Players entering the world final with higher handicaps than the categories
they qualified into will play with the highest handicap for their category.
- Players who enter the world final with lower handicaps than the categories
into which they qualified will play with their current handicaps, even though
they are lower than the category.
Fair playing conditions: Handicap Adjustment
To cope with the varying handicap rules from around the world, the tournament has handicap adjustments between all rounds.
Adjusted scores balance the game and evens out scores closer to par, creating a fair contest under equal conditions.

Speeding up play: Equitable Stroke Control
Equitable Stroke Control sets a maximum number that a player can post on any
hole.
Maximum Strokes = double par:
Par 3 = 6, Par 4 = 8, Par 5 = 10
Speeding up play: Accredited Referees
World Golfers Championship and Invitational use accredited referees from golf
federations during the world final, ensuring that the tournament is played under
strict rules according to the rules of golf.
